Burjul Arab - from my eyes!

Monument, jewel, icon. You might after reading this call it the 8th Wonder Of The World! That's Burj-ul-Arab. A feat considered impossible by many. Those who took on the job proved that sometimes the impossible CAN be made possible.

"Burj dubai will be known by many names,

But only a few privileged group of people will call it home."

Let us get on to informing my readers of the astonishing features of this building. The height of this exceptional building is currently 531.3 meters and it has 145 floors. Burj Dubai has employed the world's highest elevator installation. There are 26 terraces in all and parts of the tower reach upwards in a helical shape. Helical shape is in the shape of a helix or a spiral. (I guess the tour guide forgot to show us these terraces or else they would have been in the pictures ;) ) There are Observatory elevators at the Burj Dubai. These have the maximum capacity for 21 people on each deck. It is also said that these elevators will have the worlds longest travel distance from the lowest to highest and will travel at 10m/sec. They will be the fastest elevators in the World. The Observation deck is located 442m above the ground and will be the highest publicly accessible observation deck in the world. The building service staff/ fireman's elevator will have a capacity 5500 kg and will be the world's tallest service elevator. Burj is the first building in which certain elevators will be programmed to permit controlled evacuation for emergencies (fire or security events)

The rebar used for the tower is 31400 metric tons; it would extend over a quarter of the globe. Rebar is the steel rod or the reinforcement that glues concrete together. The curtain wall, at the front, is equivalent to 17 football (soccer) fields or 25 American football fields. (whoa!!!) Burj Dubai's electricity demands are approximately at 36 million VA, which is roughly equivalent to 360000 hundred watt light bulbs that operate at the same time. The water system at the Burj will supply an average of about 946 000 liters (250 000 gallons) of water everyday. There are 200m of spectacular dancing fountains at the foot of the Burj Dubai and some of them right in front of the entrance (refer to pictures). At cooling times the Burj Dubai requires approximately 10 000 tons of cooling per hour, which is equivalent to the capacity provided by 10 000 tons ( 22.4 million lbs or 10.2 million kg) of melting ice in a day.

Burj is now the tallest building in the world in all four categorizes that are recognized by the Council on Tall Buildings and the Urban Habitat (CTBUH) this body compiles and ranks the Worlds tallest buildings. Burj Dubai will also house one of the first Armani hotels in the World. At 110 levels and 380 m high burj Dubai shared the honor of having the largest number of floors in any building in the world, just as many as the Sears Towers in Chicago. The cranes that had been employed could go up to 2m/sec (120m/min) were used to move men and material on site. The top of the spire (a pyramid-like shape) can b seen by a person who is 95 km (60 miles) away.

Prologue to my Blogworks!

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy every one..hullo there..summaiya here writing her first blog. And ofcourse she has no clue wat-so-ever what to write about. So well, im writing this blog as a starter for my other blogs, which wil follow. It would be awesome if anyone who reads this is able to help me out..help me find topics to write about. U guys can post comments, give me topics and i will try my best for u guys.

As for my interests, im really interested in cars and heavy bikes. Even though i do not know much about either, if i find the right somebody, i'll b more den willing to learn;) As a matter of fact there was a time when i was really seriously considering making or designing cars orelse becoming a mechanic. Which brings me to my next interest, dirtying my hands. When on the beach, making castles..thats one of the reasons i love the beaches..u get to b really dirty. Pahleez do not mistake me for a 2 yr old, its just cuz i hav my inner child styl alive..romping around..and that childs hopes as well as dreams have not been squashed by pessimism. I am an optimist, to say my glass is always half full. If i get a good book i can read all day, which makes fasting very easy for me. I am usually calm but i do get these urges..haha..do not get me wrong..urges as in urges to shout, run around make noise and be boisterous. All these activities are completely over looked by my family, because they already know nothing can be done about me, to say there is no cure. I am was and will always be spontaneous. Actually my mischievious-ness is addictive. My younger sister learns quite a lot through me. Which then makes my home a noisy and full of fun place to be.

As of right now, im taking art classes, another interest of mine. And doing quite well if I might say so myself. I love throwing things together and coming out with something moderately attractive. That i guess is called abstract. I hate cooking. But if I aquire this innate sense of knowing right and wrong, something that I doubt most of the chefs have, I thnk I'll be somewhat good at it. Plus its too hot in pakistan to stand in the kitchen for more then 10minutes. so unless my future soul-mate will have a super duper airconditioner installed in the kitchen or better yet a centrally air conditioned house, he can expect me to be waiting for the silver platter. Oh ya, I am L.A.Z.Y. Very lazy actually. I hate shopping too. This is something that shocks my friends speechless but its true. Sometimes if I get my 'urges' I might go and window shop but nothing more.

Last but not the least, Im a family person. More of a friends person but without family..sheesh I would not even think about it. An example would be appropriate here, right now im applying to universities and so even thinking abt NCA (National College of Arts in Lahore),well to tell you guys the truth I did think abt it, and then I thought more about it and in the end I decided I would not want to relocate. Go to dorm rooms and stuff..gives me the creeps..I hav my own room at home and, sooner or later, its gonna get its due respect.

Thats it for now..do comment as im desperately waiting for them..;) first blog you see..take care of yourself..drive safely..muslims are not bad people..;) adios sayyonara bubye..love to all those who actuallly comment :)
